Alcohol Increase Breast Cancer Risk

In 2002, nearly 6.000 women developed breast cancer. International researchers reported 3.6 percent of all cancer cases in the world related to alcohol drinking habits, and this becomes a cause of cancer deaths around 3.5 percent. The study was presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
The death rate due to a very large alcohol habit is 232.900 and is 3.5 percent of deaths from all types of cancer. More than 60 percent of cancers associated with alcohol consumption habits in men occur in the upper abdominal cavity, and the estimated 60% of women with breast cancer

Alcohol can change the way the body metabolizes estrogen. Many cases show that the causes of breast cancer is triggered by the hormone estrogen. And the regular use of alcohol causes increased blood estrogen levels and is expected to increase the risk of breast cancer.

When compared with teetotalers:

* Women who drank the equivalent of half a glass of wine a day is 6% more likely to develop breast cancer.
* Women who drink a glass or two days to face 21% increased risk of breast cancer.
* Those who drank more than two drinks a day were 37% more likely to develop breast cancer.

Greater risk in menopausal women are:

Menopausal women who drank half a glass of wine a day can increase the likelihood of breast cancer by 18%.
